In 2023, Origami World was honoured to be named an Australia Post Local Hero Award winner — a milestone that still makes me pause and feel incredibly grateful.
Running a small business can be a quiet kind of work. It’s the behind-the-scenes packing, the late-night planning, the careful sourcing, the community conversations, and the constant effort to make something meaningful for the people you serve. So to have that work recognised by Australia Post — an organisation that connects communities every day — felt deeply special.
What is the Australia Post Local Hero Award?
The Australia Post Local Hero Award celebrates small businesses that make a positive impact in their communities.
Each year, thousands of businesses across Australia enter, and from those entries, only 100 are selected as winners. Being chosen among that group in 2023 was a huge honour — and a reminder that small businesses really do matter.
What the Local Hero Award means to me
To me, the Local Hero Award isn’t just about a business achievement. It’s about community.
Origami World has always been built on the belief that origami is more than paper folding. It’s a way to create connection, calm, and confidence — whether that’s through a mindful moment at your kitchen table, a meaningful gift, or a shared experience at an event or workshop.
This award was a reminder that small, hands-on experiences can have a big impact.
