Case Study: Canva Staff Engagement Origami Activation

The Challenge

For Canva’s end-of-year party, the team wanted a hands-on, creative experience that could engage 1,000+ staff in a high-energy environment — something interactive, inclusive, and easy for people to join at any moment.

Origami was one of several activations within the wider event program, so the experience needed to be:

• Fast to join (no long wait times)
• Visually engaging and “shareable”
• Aligned with the event theme: Imagination Fest

The Solution

Origami World delivered a live, onsite origami activation at Hordern Pavilion, Moore Park, as part of the event produced by The Event Room.

To suit the scale and flow of the night, the activation was designed as a three-table experience, giving guests choice in how they participated:

• Wearable origami table: Guests could select a pre-made wearable piece or watch it being made (earrings, ring, pendant, tie)
• Facilitated folding table: Guests learned to fold an origami creation with guidance from our facilitator
• Self-guided table: Clear instructions for guests who preferred to learn independently at their own pace

The Experience

The wearable origami concept was a perfect match for Imagination Fest — playful, creative, and instantly personal.

Guests could drop in for a quick moment, stay longer to learn a full fold, or simply enjoy watching the making process. The three-table setup created a smooth flow and helped the activation stay welcoming and accessible throughout the event.
